In Cairns we love our music and of course we always love our local support acts but it is always great when a band on tour bring their own support act ad Boys and Bear did during their most recent stop in Cairns.
Betty Taylor was the support act and they went for it during their short 30 minute set, I am sure few people knew who they were or their dongs but the volume and their attitude meant they fully engaged the audience, so go and check them out on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/bettytaylorband/
It seems to have been a while since Boy and Bear have been in Cairns, in fact the last time I saw them was 11 years ago at Brothers leagues club, other than asking where the time goes, the fact that they have sold out two shoes here in Cairns says a lot.
There was barely room to move in the crowd as David Hosking and the band made their way to the stage beginning with Strange World followed by Bridges and Old Town.
The set was a mix of the old and the new, the folksy and the electronic and an excellent cover of Simple Minds “Don’t You Forget About Me”… the cover Boy and Bear are best known for however was nowhere in sight, but no one seemed to mind.
